Meet Melissa McPherson

Melissa McPherson is a 42 year old writer from Michigan. She graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2005 with a degree in Creative Writing. Melissa has always used her writing to share her unique perspective with those around her, and living life with Cerebral Palsy has given her an abundance of stories to tell. In 2010 she started a blog called Disability and I Do that chronicled the trials of planning a wedding with a disability. The Blog received national attention when it was featured on the popular website Etsy.

Melissa did not begin to try to publish fiction until much later. In 2023 her first short story, Port of Call, was published as part of The Writer's Playground short story competition where she received and honorable mention.

In late, 2024 Melissa independently published her first novel, The Lesser Remain.  The Lesser Remain is a zombie apocalypse story with a twist-- the main characters have disabilities. Although, this is a horror novel, Melissa does not consider herself a horror writer. She will however continue to write about disabled characters in unfamiliar roles.
